How do I establish my identification?

Once you have satisfactorily established citizenship you must be able to present proper identification to establish your identity.

The following list of ID’s are considered primary Identification and are considered sufficient to establish your identity. They must be valid at the time of application and must contain your signiture and physical description or photograph that is a good likeness of you. You only need one of the following: (No temporary or altered documents)

Current Drivers License (not learner permit)
U.S. Passport (if issued after your 18th birthday)
Current College or School ID
Current Federal, State or Local Government employee ID

What if I don’t have any of the primary id’s?
If you do not have any of the primary ID’s you must present a witness that can verify your identity. Your witness must be a U.S. citizen (except for natural parents which can hold resident status but must have their resident identification cards,) and they must be able to present one of the primary ID’s from the above list. In addition, you will have to present 4 to 6 pieces of secondary identification.

What is Secondary Identification?

*Any form of identification which comes in card form and contains your name and signature, including expired identification is acceptable as secondary ID. Such as:

Social Security Card
Medicaid or Benefits Card
Library Card
Voter Registration Card
Video Rental Card
