Despite its name, the Notary Department is responsible for more than just document notarization and Notary Renewal. Notary is also responsible for the filing and registration of Business Certificates, Veterans' Peddlers' Licenses, First time Notaries and Commissioner of Deeds in the County of the Bronx. SERVICES

Document Notarization

The County Clerk's Office offers free Notary services for up to 5 (five) documents. In order to have a document notarized, the person whose signature is to be notarized must be present with proper signature identification. The signature must be an original and the document has to be completely filled out or must be in the form of a statement made by the person signing the document.

Notary Renewal and Commissioner of Deeds

The Bronx County Clerk's Notary Department is where Bronx qualified Notaries go to renew their Notary license. This department also handles the registration of Commissioner of Deeds in Bronx County. In addition to registering this information the Notary Department also maintains the files on Notaries and Commissioner of Deeds filed within the County of the Bronx and offers Notary and Commissioner of Deeds authentication. Business Certificates

Section 130 General Business Law requires every person who conducts business in New York State under an assumed name, or who conducts business as a member of a partnership, to execute a Certificate of Business and file in the County Clerks Office in which the business address is located. Veterans' Peddlers' Licenses

If you served active duty in the United States Armed Forces for a minimum of two years and were honorably discharged, you are eligible for a Veterans' Peddlers' License. The license is offered at no fee to those who qualify and who present the following to the Notary Clerk in our Office:

Original or certified copy of the DD-214 (not a Xerox copy)
Proof of Identification
Proof of Address (Must reside within the County of Application)
Two Passport Photos (one for our records and one for the license)
