What Notary services are offered?

If you are a Notary or Commissioner of Deeds who is qualified in Bronx County and your commission is up for renewal, you can renew your commission in our office. The Notary Department also offers Notary and Commissioner of Deeds Authentication for documents that require the Bronx County Clerks Seal.

How do I renew my Notary Commission?

To renew a Notary Commission you must submit your renewal form (either in person or by mail) signed and notarized, with a fee of $30. Checks and Money orders must be made payable to the Bronx County Clerk. Please make sure that all information on the card is correct and provide a daytime phone number on the back of the card. Also make sure to answer question number 1 on the bottom of your renewal. Any deviation from this procedure may cause a delay in the renewal of your Commission.

* You have 6 months from time of expiration to renew your commission. If your fail to renew within the allotted time you must re-take the examination. If you renew more than 30 days after your effective dates, your effective date will change to reflect the date of actual renewal.

How do I file my Commissioner of Deeds?

Once you have qualified as a Commissioner of Deeds you may file your commission any County in which you wish to be qualified. The fee to file your Commission in Bronx County is $10. Checks and Money orders must be made payable to the Bronx County Clerk. Once you have filed your Commission you are only qualified in the County in which you filed.

How do I get a Notary or Commissioner of Deeds Authentication?

You can have a Notary or Commissioner of Deeds signature authenticated in our office if they are qualified here. To have a signature authenticated the document and commissioned signature must be original. The fee for signature authentication is $3 per authentication certificate.

How do I get a Certificate of Official Character?
A Notary may request a Certificate of Official Character from County in which they have been qualified. Certificates are available at our office for a fee of $5. To file the Certificate in another County you will be charged a fee of $10 at the respective county in which you file.
